I Like This Track

“Money” - The Drums

They’re like a punky Interpol that I actually like! (That’s a lie; I like some Interpol, but this sound is way more accessible and evolved).

“Diamonds On The Face Of Evil” - Ugly Casanova

The lurching stomp of a beat that carries this song is my favorite part about it. Though, I’ve always been a fan of screamed, un-pretty vocals.

“New Friend” - Ben and Bruno

I heard this song, once, three years ago. I had no idea who it was by and have been searching for it ever since. I just found it. I am so happy.

“Poodle Rockin’” - Gorky’s Zygotic Mynci

I like silliness. I like doggies. I like synths. This song fits all of those requirements nicely.

“Dead Hearts” - Dead Man’s Bones

Love songs always seems more realistic when they hold a tinge of melancholia.

“Heartbeats” - Jose Gonzalez

As popular as The Knife’s song is, there’s an essential softness and well of emotion in Gonzalez’s cover that he translates so well.

“First Love” - The Maccabees

I like break-up songs; DEAL WITH IT.

“BTSTU” - Jai Paul

I don’t even know what this is or where it came from, but sweet Jesus, let it stay in my head forever.

“Relief” - Cold War Kids

I’m sorry to say this was one of the two or three songs on the Loyalty To Loyalty album I found any good. But I’m happy to say the quality more than makes up for the quantity. Sick synth and a nice, shuffley drum.

“Nothing To You” - Two Gallants

Two piece band (a la The Black Keys) with a more aggressive, less bluesy feel. The “down by the riverside (wasted away)” call and answer is great, as is the line “‘cause I’m gay as a choirboy for you.”
